How To Make A Head Pin Bail

Using a simple head pin and some small beads you can create a decorative bail for a pendant to add to your next jewellery creations

You will need a long head pin (our head pin measured 50mm), some beads and/or bead spacers to stop the head pin from going through the hole in the pendant (and it also gives a nice decorative look). We used a 8mm metal daisy spacer bead and a 4mm bicone.

Take the head pin holding the ends with the tips of your round-nose pliers. Thread the bicone bead, spacer bead and then the pendant. Keep holding the tip of the round-nose pliers on the end of the head pin and take the other end of the head pin and bend it at a 90 degree angle at the back of the pendant. Now move the round nose pliers to the top of the pendant and bring the end of the head pin around it to the front of the pendant creating a large loop (the bail). *Thread a closed loop on the large loop** (* to ** is optional depending on your finished design). Sit the end of the head pin under the beads. Now secure by wrapping the ends of the wire under the beads. Trim if needed.
