Create a pair of elegant, handcrafted hoop earrings with this circular brick stitch tutorial, featuring the delicate shimmer of quartz crystal and rainbow moonstone ππ. This technique builds a structured yet airy design around a hoop base, with carefully placed beads adding texture and dimension. Whether you’re new to brick stitch or refining your skills, this step-by-step guide will walk you through creating a beautifully balanced pair of earrings with a celestial-inspired touch β¨.
π Materials:
- 2 metres Fireline π§΅
- 2 x 30mm 304 stainless steel hoops π
- 2 grams Size 11/0 Toho seed beads π
- 18 x 3mm round faceted quartz crystal beads π
- 16 x 4mm cube rainbow moonstone beads π
- Size 10 needle πͺ‘
- Scissors βοΈ
π Instructions:
1οΈβ£ Start the Foundation Row
πͺ‘ Thread 1 metre of Fireline onto a needle and knot it to the back of the earring hoop, leaving a 5cm tail. Pick up two seed beads and slide them down to the hoop. Pass the needle under the hoop and up through the second bead (the one now resting against the hoop). Tuck the tail through the first bead to secure.
2οΈβ£ Continue Brick Stitch
Pick up one seed bead, pass the needle under the hoop, and up through the bead. Repeat until the hoop is fully covered with beads.
3οΈβ£ Add Crystal & Moonstone Accents
Turn your work over and work clockwise π. Pick up a 3mm quartz crystal bead π, pass the needle through the top of the next seed bead, ensuring it sits on its side. Then, take the needle up through the next bead, add a 4mm moonstone cube bead π, and secure it by passing through the top of the next bead, ensuring it sits on its side. Repeat this pattern around the hoop.
4οΈβ£ Reinforce & Secure the Thread
Pass the needle through the hoop and up through the last bead. Reinforce by passing through all the beads again π. Secure the thread by weaving it through several beads, βοΈ then trim the excess to finish.
